Somalis Detained Abroad
A large part of Somalia's prison story happens outside Somalia — in American detention centres, Libyan prisons, Turkish removal centres, Kenyan police cells, Gulf deportation camps, and the prisons where piracy sentences were served. Almost none of it is written from the Somali side. This is OPR's standing project to document it: what is known, country by country, with sources; what is not known; and a route for the people who lived it to tell it.
